Beechford sits where the Curries River meets the Tasman Sea, on Tasmania's north coast. The estate is on an internal no-through road, so the only cars are the ones that live here.

What it's like

The beach is a four-hundred-metre walk. People swim, surf, sail and fish it. There are tracks along the sand and up the riverbank, and dunes that soften the wind. Beechford has a playground and a tennis court.

Summers on this coast average 20–24°C, and the water sits between 14°C and 19°C depending on the season. The swimming here is sheltered and mild for the north coast, and the same wind that shapes the dunes makes it good ground for kitesurfing.
